    They make bold promises regarding how hardy this grass is, but it really isn't all that tough. Many of the areas I planted it in germinated just fine, but then died off suddenly in patches. I tried again with some name-brand product from Home Depot, and it worked just fine - and was a fraction of the price. Side-by-side in the yard, the "Black Beauty" looks sickly and sparse compared to the name-brand product. It is possible that it may need a season to really get going; if that turns out to be true, I will update my review.
